The EDI Centre is currently seeking a dynamic individual to fill the role of Catering Assistant on our Community Employment Programme.

Duties and Responsibilities:

As a Catering Assistant on our Community Employment Programme, your role will encompass various responsibilities, including but not limited to:

  • Preparing and cooking food for breakfast and lunch
  • Methodically serving food and managing customer orders
  • Conducting temperature control checks to ensure food safety
  • Assisting with baking breads, cakes, and other items
  • Collaborating on the development of daily and weekly menus
  • Operating a cash register to process payments
  • Participating in routine cleaning of kitchen & equipment
  • Ensuring strict adherence to health, safety, and hygiene
  • Monitoring and managing stock control
  • Active participation in all required training sessions

The Community Employment Programme (CE Scheme) is designed to provide valuable opportunities for individuals who have been long-term unemployed. It offers part-time and temporary placements within local communities to help participants re-enter the workforce.

Participants on CE have the flexibility to take up other part-time work during their placement.

The Community Employment Programme (also known as a “CE Scheme”) is designed to help people who are long-term unemployed get back to work by offering part-time and temporary placements in jobs based within local communities.

Participants on a CE Scheme can take up other part-time work during their placement and this will not affect their CE payment.

  • PRSI ‘A’ contribution paid (paid employment)
  • Progress to sustainable full-time employment / self-employment
  • Those on reduced DSP payments receive wages based on the full DSP rate while on CE

  • You will keep your entitlement to the extra benefits you were getting immediately before going onto CE, provided you continue to satisfy the conditions for these benefits
